Level 3 Award in Education and Training (QCF)

This introductory, knowledge-based teaching qualification has no minimum teaching practice requirement, meaning it can be undertaken by individuals who are not in a teaching role. However, there is a minimum requirement to take part in microteaching. This qualification replaces the Level 3 Award in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector.

It is also a competence based qualification that is based on National Occupational Standards (NOS) and a Job – ready qualification which requires learners to demonstrate the skills and knowledge required to work in a specific industry.

The qualification is regulated in England by the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual), in Wales by the Department for Education and Skills (DFES).

Above all, the award confers a threshold licence to teach which allows learners to commence their professional development within the teaching profession.
