Level 3 Award in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools

This knowledge-based qualification will provide an understanding of the knowledge and skills needed when working directly with children or young people in primary, secondary or special schools. It is important to note that this qualification is suitable for learners not yet in a school role but who have the capability to achieve at Level 3 or learners in a Level 2 role wishing to demonstrate that they are ready for progression to Level 3. It is also suitable as initial training for those newly in post. The Award shares four mandatory units with the Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools. This enables credits and learning to be transferred from this qualification to the Level 3 Certificate, providing a direct progression route. It is also meant to provide learners with an understanding of the knowledge needed when working directly with children or young people in school environments. Learners completing the Award do not need to be working.

It includes learning about children and young people’s development, safeguarding their welfare and communication. They also cover: communication and professional relationships with children, young people and adults, schools as organisations, including types of schools, policies and procedures and the wider environment in which they operate.

To gain the Award learners will need to achieve 12 credits from the four mandatory units listed below.

  • Understand child and young person development
  • Understand how to safeguard the wellbeing of children and young people
  • Communication and professional relationships with children and young people
  • Schools as organisations

All the four units are assessed internally through written, which means you are not going to sit for an examination. You will be given assignment tasks throughout the course with deadlines for submission of this work. These will be assessed by your course tutor and you will be given feedback. The qualification will be pass or refer and all the assessment criteria of the chosen units must be achieved in order to obtain a pass.

You will be provided with a username and password, to log in our online learning platform. You will be able to access your course material, use the online resources and submit your assignments. You are required to participate in online forum, independent study, practical and creative work. If you have any queries, you are able to contact your tutor or one of our advisers by email, phone or arrange a virtual meeting (if necessary). There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification but learners will need to be at least 16 years of age. Learners should possess a formal qualification in any discipline and a good level of literacy and numeracy or willingness to work towards one during the programme.

It is suitable for learners aged 16 and above.

In order to secure a place on this e-learning programme, you must be able to meet the following conditions:

  • Access to the internet with a valid e-mail address.
  • Ability to study for minimum of 8 hours in a week for the duration of the programme

£400.00 GBP (All inclusive). There are four parts to the cost of your course: Tuition Fees include Centre registration, Awarding Body Registration, Exam/Assessment Fees and Certification.

You are usually expected to complete the course within 4 months from the enrollment date. We however give you our learner an additional 2 months if they fail to complete during the normal duration which stretches the time period to a maximum 6 months!

Learners are able to complete the course within a shorter time depending on a number of factors which includes own commitment. However, learner joining the course with evidence of prior learning with a substantial number of credits will obviously be able to complete quicker! This is because the guided learning hours will also reduce.
