Functional Skills in ICT course is designed to help students develop practical skills which will allow them to work confidently, effectively and independently in life. The course can range from Level 1 up to Level 2. Classes are not aimed specifically at one level. You will work at your own pace at your level.
Functional Skills are practical skills in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) that allow individuals to work confidently, effectively and independently in life providing learners with the skills and abilities they need to take an active and responsible role in their communities, everyday life, the workplace and educational settings.
Functional Skills ICT requires learners to use technology in ways that make them effective and involved as citizens, to operate confidently in life, and to work in a wide range of contexts. Hence, it is designed to equip learners with the confidence and ability to use ICT systems and tools, and find, select, develop, present, and communicate information. They’re assessed by a single, external, paper-based test that’s available on demand and completed at a computer.
You will be assessed in a single, external test (either paper-based or onscreen on demand).
In order to pass this qualification, the evidence that you present for assessment needs to demonstrate that they can meet all the skill standards for all the components of the qualification. The coverage and range determine the standard required to achieve the qualification.
The aims of these qualifications are to develop learner understanding and skills in:
- using ICT
- finding and selecting information
- developing, presenting and communicating information.
You will be provided with a username and password, to log in our online learning platform. You will be able to access your course material, use the online resources to practice. Use of technology is highly encouraged in learning and development. Some assessments can be carried out using Skype, video, webinars or any web conference. Fast track is possible for those who are dedicated to studying at a fast pace, have resources and access to learning opportunities.
There is no entry requirement for this course as it is for anyone wishing to improve their skills and confidence in ICT.
